Team Connect Product Manager

Position Summary:

The Product Manager will lead the definition and delivery of product vision and business requirements for the Team Connect product/solution line, including both server and mobile applications. The Product Manager will work with the development team, sales personnel, senior company management, reference customers, and important channel partners in the planning and execution of a successful product line. Preferred location is company headquarters in Rome, NY.

Job Responsibilities:

The Product Manager will manage product development to include customer sales and engineering support. Manages development of PAR Government ISR products to include TEAM Connect, and associated elements of the product line. Must be able to coordinate, manage and document requirements, design, development, integration, installation, and sustainment of PAR Government ISR product lines.  Specifically, the Product Manager will:

  • Assist with defining product strategy and roadmaps by collaborating with sales and services to capture requirements for products and ensure that they are integrated into the product roadmap.
  • Create and deliver necessary documentation
  • Assist with maintaining the product backlog with prioritized features and corresponding justification.
  • Develop competitive analysis and market analysis.
  • Provide financial modeling and analysis of new product initiatives to determine an ROI for new product introductions
  • Assist with setting pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
  • Develop product release strategy by coordinating efforts with appropriate partner teams and business units.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Marketing teams to develop product positioning and messaging for the intended market.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert and evangelist to assist in sales engagements, presentations, and briefings within the marketplace and with respect to the competition.
  • Interface with clients to obtain market requirements and product feedback.
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.
  • Participate in annual planning processes
  • Act as a leader within the company

Knowledge & Skills:

Candidate must have program management, product development, and software engineering experience. Must perform: staff allocations, estimates to complete (ETC), customer reviews, and management of product deliverables. Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word needed. Must be willing to implement and sustain ISO 9001:2015 and CMMI Level 3 Development (DEV) processes as they relate to product development and sustainment.

  • Expertise in products that use mapping components, as well as communications elements.
  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of product design, computer systems development and related marketing strategies.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Analytical Skills - Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.
  • Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
  • Communication, Written - Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Project Management - Ability to organize and direct a project to completion.
  • Technical Aptitude - Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
  • Presentation Skills – Ability to effectively present information publicly.
  • Leadership Skills-Ability to effectively act as the CEO of the product line and evangelize the benefits to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university); MBA preferred.
  • Experience with Cloud-base software and SaaS.
  • Must be familiar with Lean/Agile software development methodologies.
  • 10 plus years’ industry experience. Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering/Marketing or related technical field preferred.
  • Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of product design, computer systems development and related marketing strategies.

Judgment/Analytical Responsibilities:

Ability to continually monitor product development status and plan for on-time and on-budget product completions. Recommend and manage staff hiring and allocations of staff to multiple simultaneous product development thrusts. Will support customer relationship management as well as key channel partners by gathering and prioritizing requirements and monitoring customer satisfaction.

Management/Control Responsibilities:

Responsible for an initial year of product sales and support, with additional yearly revenue growth objectives for subsequent periods. Target amounts in the initial year and subsequent periods to be mutually agreed upon.

Communications Responsibilities:

Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate (verbal and written) with PAR internal staff and customers.
